The Sweeney Singers will hold their annual Christmas benefit concert for the establishment of the Bakerview Academy of Music, on Thursday, Dec. 20 at 7:30 p.m. at Bakerview Church, Abbotsford.

This organization is modelled on El Sistema – “a visionary global movement that transforms the lives of children through music.”

The Sweeney Singers, a close-knit group of young adults from two families, are directed and accompanied by Janet and Mark Sweeney.

They have been entertaining in the Fraser Valley for 23 years, have been recognized by the community for their support of charitable organizations, and are winners of numerous awards for their choral music.

The Sweeneys’ December program is always a time to enjoy old and new Christmas music, in a variety of classic and contemporary styles.

The Sweeneys welcome Sonya Sweeney from Ottawa to sing and play a selection of piano duets with her musical fiancé.

Patriarch Ron Sweeney is a regular feature, giving his usual humorous monologue.

Admission is by donation.  For more information, call 604-856-7765 or visit www.sweeneysingers.com
