Jepsen up for Grammy Awards

Local songstress Carly Rae Jepsen is up for one (or two) of the biggest awards in the music industry.

Jepsen's catchy tune, Call Me Maybe, has earned her two nominations for the 2013 Grammy Awards.

The Mission native is up for the Best Pop Solo Performance award and Song of the Year. Song of the Year recognizes the song writers, and Jepsen's team also includes Tavish Crowe and Josh Ramsay.

The trio will be up against The A-Team, written by Ed Sheeran (performed by Ed Sheeran); Adorn, by Miguel Pimentel (Miguel); Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You), by Jorgen Elofsson, David Gamson, Greg Kurstin and Ali Tamposi (Kelly Clarkson); and We are Young, by Jack Antonoff, Jeff Bhasker, Andrew Dost and Nate Ruess (Fun. featuring Janelle Monae).

Other nominees for the Best Pop Solo Performance award are Set Fire to the Rain (Live), Adele; Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You), Kelly Clarkson; Wide Awake, Katy Perry; and Where Have You Been, Rihanna.

The 55th annual Grammy Awards will be handed out Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
