Hitting the high notes: Brian Down belts it out with some of the cast of Rivercity Players’ production of Mother Goose at a rehearsal of the pantomime. Pantomime (or Panto as it’s commonly called) is a peculiarly British tradition of winter musical comedy theatre. It takes familiar fairy tales and children’s stories – Cinderella, Aladdin, Snow White, and in this case, Mother Goose – and injects a bit of music hall sensibility, Vaudevillian audacity, contemporary references, and audience participation to create a raucous, noisy entertainment that’s fun for all ages. Rivercity Players’ production of Mother Goose will run at the Tidemark Theatre from Dec. 27-31, including a family-friendly party on New Year’s Eve. Order tickets online at TidemarkTheatre.com or by phoning 250-287-7465.
