Dickens’ classic brought to vocal life in Chemainus
What says Christmas more than Dickens’ A Christmas Carol?
And what says Christmas in Chemainus more than hearing the classic tale read aloud by a cross-section of arresting speakers?
The 2012 edition of what has become a Chemainus Christmas staple is scheduled to happen Tuesday.
Familiar voices including CBC Radio’s Shelagh Rogers and JoAnne Roberts will be reading excerpts from the novel in the comfortable environment of the Chemainus United Church.

The Cowichan Valley Youth Concert Choir, conducted by Sheila Johnson, is also scheduled to perform.
In addition to the familiar voices from CBC radio, speakers include Chemainus Theatre Festival artistic director Mark Dumez, actor and voice coach Erin Ormond, retired professor of literature David Thomas, and actor and Shawnigan Lake School drama teacher Gregg Perry.
Jamie Stephen will host.
Tickets are $12 per person or $30 for a family, available from British Allsorts or the
United Church, both located on Willow Street.
Patrons are also asked to donate food items for Harvest House food bank, on the night of the performance. The concert begins at 7:30, doors open at 7 p.m.
