Police thanked for their help
December 01, 2008Editor: There has been a lot of news regarding police actions as of late, and as usual, bad news sells and good news is quickly forgotten. I felt that I should write regarding the actions of RCMP Constables Evans (rookie) and Dennis Bell.
I fell prey to a well-planned out Internet scam. After wiring a sizeable deposit on a item to this fraudulent local selling forum, I started to question the validity of the whole transaction. A tiny voice kept repeating in my head if it’s to good to be true, it is.
I called the Langley RCMP the next morning and they were at my door one hour later. After reviewing all the transcripts, they asked what I had done. They quickly called the issuing office of the money transfer and were redirected to the destination.
They called that office and fortunately the transfer had not yet been picked up. Needless to say, I was extremely relieved. I had my cash two hours later and a very valuable lesson was learned. If it wasn’t for the quick actions of these two officers, I would still be in the dog house.
Many thanks to Langley RCMP and Constables Bell and Evans.
R. Fourchalk,
Langley
