Lyons Landscaping loving this festive time of year

Winter isn’t usually a time when people are thinking green, but Lyons Landscaping has roared into the holiday season.

This weekend, the landscaping and garden centre held its third annual Christmas bake and craft sale.

Even though the landscaping side of the business slows during the cool, winter months, the crews are always kept busy doing snow removal and sanding jobs throughout the city.

And, in keeping with the giving season, all proceeds are being donated to the CIBC’s Run For The Cure.

Although the ground is covered in white, the company is still envisaging green with fresh, local Christmas trees available to buy at the store as well as the B.C. Wildlife Park.

The trees will be up for purchase when the wildlife park kicks off its Wildlights event, which runs Dec. 12 to Jan. 4.

Part of the proceeds will be given back to the park.

If you’re still in need of a tree and are up at Sun Peaks Resort on Dec. 20 and Dec. 21, stop by the Kris Kringle Craft Market, where the trees are being sold.

And don’t forget to stop by the centre, 1271 Salish Rd., and check out the tropical indoor plants and other green as well as browse the many rare gift ideas lining the festive shop.

Shoppers also have the change to purchase reusable, cotton bags for $1, with all proceeds going to the B.C. Children’s Hospital.

Carol Wozencroft, company marketing manager, said Lyons Landscaping offers something for everyone, from trees to gifts you can put under them.

“The items are so unique and one-of-a-kind,” Wozencroft said.

“And the holiday season is fun — we all get excited for it.”
