1600 VANCOUVER ISLAND STUDENTS DRIVE AWAY HUNGER

On October 16th (World Food Day), over 1600 Island Catholic School elementary students will walk 5 km to focus attention on issues of local and world hunger.

Island Catholic Schools and Farm Credit Canada invite the media to join them or drop off a non-perishable food item at walk locations in support of the Society of St Vincent De Paul of Vancouver Island.

Schools and Start Times:

10:30 a.m.

- St. Andrew’s Elementary School, 1002 Pandora Ave, Victoria

- St. Joseph’s School, 757 West Burnside Rd., Victoria

- St. Patrick’s School, 2368 Trent St., Victoria

- Queen of Angels, 2085 Maple Bay Road, Duncan

- St. Joseph’s School, 9735 Elm Street, Chemainus

- John Paul II School, 4006 8th Ave., Port Alberni

Established in 1916, the Society of St Vincent De Paul of Vancouver Island is part of an international Christian lay organization seeking to alleviate suffering through justice, charity, and person to person involvement.

In addition to visiting families in need, the Society operates housing for homeless at risk, a social concern office, food banks, soup kitchens, a day program for people with disabilities and five thrift stores.
