Cross-Canada Peace Bus makes stop in Abbotsford
A group of teens travelling across Canada on the CISV Peace Bus recently made a stop in Abbotsford, and a second group plans to visit on Aug. 20.
The first group, consisting of 14- to 16-year-olds, began their trip June 22, travelling from Victoria and ending in Halifax on July 31.
The second group, made up of those ages 15 to 18, left Halifax on July 17 and ends in Victoria on Aug. 26.
The two Peace Bus groups travel in 15-passenger vans for 12 delegates, one junior leader and two leaders.
During the trip, they volunteer in communities, visit local CISV (Children's International Summer Villages) chapters, participate in team-building activities and more, while staying in CISV family homes and camping in national parks.
While in Abbotsford on June 28, the first group visited Menno Terrace to play the card game SkipBo with the senior residents.
The youth shared information about their trip, while the seniors talked about their experiences in Canada and how they support the idea of youth promoting peace.
The next morning, the group visited Maan Farms, where they picked fresh berries to enjoy on their trip.
The second group will also visit Menno Terrace as they pass through Abbotsford on Aug. 20.
