B.C. Mobile Dairy Classroom: The Mobile Dairy Classroom Experience brings live milking and calf-feeding demonstrations out to your library. Equipped with a milking machine, cows, and knowledgeable staff, the Mobile Dairy Classroom will entertain and inform. Takes place at the Sardis Library on Friday, July 18, from 2-3 p.m. and at the Yarrow Library on Thursday, July 24 from 2-3 p.m.
Second Storey Theatre: Audiences will decide the fate of our improvisers as they play games and tell stories in this exciting 45-minute show. Together with our cast of performers, the audience will help to create a one-of-a- kind adventure that is entirely inspired by their suggestions. It’s like a choose-your-own-adventure book that is unfolding right before your very eyes! Suitable for children 6+. Takes place at the Sardis Library, Wednesday, July 23, 4-4:45 p.m., and at the Chilliwack Library, Tuesday, Jul 29, 11-11:45 a.m.
Music and More: This year Music and More will alternate between Chilliwack and Sardis Libraries from now until Aug. 20. These weekly Wednesday events feature children's programs followed by musical concerts. Stop by either library to pick up a schedule.

Purple Pirate: Ahoy, mateys! The Purple Pirate be on your horizon. He has a treasure box full of laughs and pirate magic that is fun for the whole family. Come one, come all and laugh with B.C.’s friendly privateer. Takes place at the Chilliwack Library on Tuesday, Aug 5, 2-3 p.m.; at the Sardis Library on Wednesday, Aug 6, 1-1:45 p.m.; and at the Yarrow Library on Wednesday, Aug 6, 3:30-4:15 p.m.
Summer Reading Club Wind Up with Uzume Taiko: Celebrate your summer of reading with Uzume Taiko. Pick up your SRC medal and experience the heart-stopping pulse of Japanese taiko drums. Join members of award-winning, world famous Uzume Taiko as they take you on an intimate journey through the world of taiko. Takes place at the Chilliwack Library on Tuesday, Aug. 19, from 11 a.m. to noon; at the Yarrow Library on Tuesday, Aug. 19, from 2-2:45 p.m.; and at the Sardis Library on Friday, Aug. 22, from 2-2:45 p.m.
Ongoing and Current Programs:
Storytime in the Park: Introduce kids to the love of books and language with Storytime! Children and caregivers will enjoy interactive stories, songs, rhymes, and more. Storytime prepares children to learn to read. Storytime in the Park will take place in Salish Park, behind the library. If the weather is frightful, storytime will take place inside. Dates: Tuesdays, July 8 to Aug. 26, 10:30-11 a.m.
Children and Teen Summer Reading Club: Funny Business is the theme of this year's summer reading club at the Chilliwack, Sardis, Yarrow libraries. It’s time to chuckle, chortle and laugh your way to the library to join the 2014 Summer Reading Club. Win prizes, see awesome shows, and earn a medal. Just read every day. Registration begins June 23 and is ongoing; program runs to Aug. 31.
Adult Summer Reading Club: Don't let the kids have all the fun! Adults can enter draws for every seven days of reading. The more you read, the more chances you have to win. A grand prize will be drawn at the end of the summer for a basket of books and other goodies. Info for the club can be found at the Chilliwack, Sardis, and Yarrow libraries. Runs Sunday, June 1 to Sunday, Aug. 31.
Family Games Night: Bring the kids, grandma and grandpa and head to the Sardis library for a night of board games. Takes place on the last Wednesday of the month from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
LEGO Club: We have the LEGO, you bring your imagination! LEGO club takes place at the Sardis Library on the third Tuesday of the month from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. It's a fun time for kids ages 7 to 14, so come on in and join them after school. (Psst - girls are welcome!) Please note that registration is required by calling 604-858-5503.

Storytime Kits: Storytime kits are now available at the Chilliwack library for anyone to borrow. Themed bags containing books, rhymes, puppets and flannel stories for babies to preschoolers are ready and waiting for you to enjoy. Made possible with a generous donation by the Friends of the Chilliwack Libraries. 604-792-1941.
Knit and Knatter: Pack up your yarn and head to the library! Knitting is fun, relaxing and a great way to connect across the generations. Join knitters of all ages and abilities at the Sardis Library on Wednesdays from noon to 1:30 p.m. for their warm and welcoming drop-in knitting group. Children and beginners are welcome.
eHelp Desk: Visit Chilliwack Library’s Monday afternoon eHelp Desk for one-on-one help with downloading FVRL’s Ditigal Content (eBooks, audiobooks and magazines) and accessing FVRL’s other digital databases. The eHelp Desk program takes place Mondays at the Chilliwack Library from 2 to 4:30 p.m.
Read With Your Ears: The Chilliwack Library is the first library in the Fraser Valley to offer its public Listening Station. Featuring four mounted and easy-to-use DAISY (digital accessible information system) players, customers visiting the library can now relax in a comfortable chair and listen to books or music from the collection. While useable by anyone, the DAISY players have the added feature of being accessible to our sight-impaired customers. Go to the Chilliwack Library and read with your ears.
Book Clubs: Join library staff for lively discussions of selected titles. Chosen books will change monthly and copies are provided by the library. New members are welcome to join at any time, and registration is not required for this free program. The Chilliwack Library Book Club meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The Yarrow Library Book Club meets on the third Thursday of the month from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m.
Friends of the Chilliwack Library: This volunteer organization supports the library through advocacy, fundraising and assistance with various projects and programs. The Puzzle Sale, Pet Parade and Quiz Night are all successful Friends initiatives. They meet on the first Wednesday of the month at the Chilliwack Library from 2 to 3 p.m. New friends are always welcome.
How’s That Made?: Join Susan Barclay Nichols from Chilliwack Community Services and learn to make paper crafts, fabric art, body care products and more. The class is for teens and tweens and up takes place on Thursdays (July 17, 24, 31, Aug. 7, and 21) from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Chilliwack Library. There's also a class for students in Grades 5 and up on Tuesdays, July 22 and Aug. 5 from 2 to3:30 p.m. at the Yarrow Library. Teen Games Night: Teens and pre-teens can join Susan and Raymond for a great evening of board and card games including Apples to Apples, Escalation, Zombie Brains and more. Games Night takes place on the second Thursday of the month at the Chilliwack Library from 5 to 8:30 p.m. For more information, email Susan at email@example.com.
Genshiken: Join Raymond and his Genshiken group for a night of Japanese pop culture mayhem. It takes place on Wednesdays (July 30, Aug. 6, 20) at the Chilliwack Library from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Due to the content of the media during the Japanese group, please be at least 13 to attend. Rated T for Teen: With Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Rock Band, Wii Sports, Animal Crossing, retro-gaming on the Dreamcast, and the One Quarter Challenge, you bring your 'A' game and we bring the rest. Bring your Nintendo DS for portable multiplayer mayhem. Conversation Circles: Are you an adult trying to improve your spoken English? Would you like to meet new friends in the community? Your local libraries, in partnership with Chilliwack Community Services (604-393-3251), hosts free Conversation Circles. The events take place: Mondays at the Chilliwack Library from 7 to 8:30 p.m. (excluding Aug. 4), Wednesdays at the Sardis Library from 7 to 8:30 p.m., and Thursdays at the Yarrow Library from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Mental Silence Meditation: Mental silence is the experience of inner silence which brings a peaceful and clearer awareness. It is easy to learn, and with the guidance of Sergiy Fadyeyev, can generate significant results quickly. Mental silence can reduce stress and have a profound balancing effect on physical, mental and emotional dimensions of the students, enhancing both resilience and total well being. This program takes place at the Sardis Library on Mondays (excluding Aug. 4) from 7 to 8 p.m.
