Police news this week: dinghy among swiped items in Oak Bay
Beach Drive took a hit last week. On June 23 a bike and marine battery were reported stolen from a carport in the 900-block. The same day a secured dinghy was stolen from a slip at the Oak Bay Marina in the 1300-block of Beach Drive.
Back plates nicked from two vehicles
On June 24, two similar thefts were reported, one in the 3200-block of Henderson Road and the other in the 2100-block of Bartlett Avenue. The thief in both instances removed the rear license plate of the vehicle. However, the thief also went after insurance papers of the vehicle on Bartlett.
Police seek info
Four vehicles were damaged just after midnight on June 26 in the 2000-block of Allenby Street. A witness reported seeing a male in his teens, wearing a green numbered soccer jersey, damaging the vehicles. Saanich Police deployed a canine unit but couldn’t locate the suspect. Don’t leave valuables in the car, remind police after a theft from a vehicle in the 1900-block of Bee Street. The suspect entered the unlocked vehicle and removed items worth more than $1,500.
