No to merger

NORTH SAANICH — Councillors with the District of North Saanich reiterated their opposition to a referendum on amalgamation in the upcoming municipal election.

Mayor Alice Finall, responding to a second request by Amalgamation Yes, a group promoting the merger of all or some of the 13 municipalities in Greater Victoria, said council already made a decision not to hold a referendum.

On June 16, council decided not to address the matter further.

 

Family bike event

NORTH SAANICH — Cycle of Hope for ALS comes to Rotary Field in North Saanich Sunday, June 22. The ride, a fundraiser for ALS, takes place from 11 a.m. to 2  p.m. To register, visit www.cycleofhope.ca.
