The West Coast Men's Support Society presents Father's Day Library Tour 2014

The West Coast Men's Support Society presents Father's Day Library Tour 2014! The City of Duncan declares June 9 to 15th Men's Health Week in Duncan!

This is an invitation to our community to come to visit with us on our Library Tour! We will be meeting in the following libraries to talk about the importance of Dads and to discuss the programs we offer for men in our community.

Tuesday June 10 at noon = Lake Cowichan Thursday, June 12 at 1:30pm = Cowichan Thursday, June 12 at 4:00pm = Mill Bay Thursday, June 12 at 7:00pm = Oak Bay Friday, June 13 at 1:00pm = Chemainus

This is also an invitation for you to turn to the men in your life and ask them how they are doing. When was the last time that they had an annual physical? How have they been feeling lately? What are they doing to take care of themselves?

Ithinkthatthisisthebiggestchallengefacingmen:askingforhelp. Ithinkthatmen were raised to do it on their own – that they are supposed to "tough it out", "suck it up", etc. I think that the majority of messages that the media, movies, and society in general deliver to men are all around being super strong and that you can climb mountains, build mega corporations, fight the "enemy", and come home and have yourdinner, watchtheNHLplayoffs, andhitthehay. Howmanyofyoucanrelate?

We really hope that Men's Health Week and Father's Day will be a "wake-up" call to some men in our community to take the necessary action towards a healthier lifestyle vs. reacting to a health scare.

West Coast Men's Support society has been supporting men in the Cowichan Valley and beyond for nearly 5 years with programs such as One on One Counselling, and ourweeklyMen'sCirclesandDadsMakeaDifferencegroup. Wehaveabook& video resource library at our office, along with numerous online resources on our website. Please feel free to drop in to our office to say hello. We are located in the Merchant Building: 80 Station St., Ste 213
