Mouat students earn first prize in video contest
Students from WJ Mouat Secondary took first prize in the Grade 8-10 category for their French animated video in the 2014 WorkSafeBC Student Safety Video Contest.
Students will share $500 prize money and WJ Mouat Secondary will receive $2,000.
Students from 55 high schools across B.C. submitted videos in a variety of formats, including live action and animation. Entries were judged based on their impact, transferable safety message, original creative concept, and technical execution. They were also judged on how well they provided a youth perspective on workplace safety, and how well safety messages targeted young workers and their peer groups.
Prizes were awarded in two categories: Grade 8-10 and Grade 11-12, with first place, runner up, honourable mention and People’s Choice in each category. This year a new category was added for the top six-second Vine video.
The 2014 theme for the WorkSafeBC video contest was “Don’t let your first job be your last.”
