SLICE OF LIFE: May 31 to June 3


The last German sing-along before the summer recess will be held on Saturday, May 31 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church (corner of Ware and Marshall).   Refreshments to follow.  Everyone welcome.  Info: Anneliese at 604-859-0822


A free seminar on brain health takes place Saturday, May 31 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at Cascade Community Church, 35190 DeLair Rd. Doors open at 9. Speaker is Anthony Stephan, founder of Truehope Nutritional Support Ltd., a mental-health organization. Pre-registration is required at 604-309-7444 or


A Folk Rock Night takes place at the House of James (2743 Emerson St.) on Saturday, May 31 from 7 to 10 p.m. The Jon Harris Band, Terra Nova Bay and guests are coming to Abbotsford for the event. Tickets via Eventbrite are $5, or $8 at the door. For information,  call 604-768-6461.


A Bridges of Faith potluck  dinner takes place on Tuesday, June 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Abbotsford Community Services, 2420 Montrose Ave. The main focus will be on brainstorming the future of the program, as it looks for a sustainable future.


Abbotsford Recreation Centre (2499 McMillan Rd.) celebrates Seniors’ Week (June 2-6) with a Happy Hour Social on Wednesday, June 4 from 3 to 5 p.m. with free tea/coffee and light refreshments. Free drop-in programs will be held throughout the week. Info: 604-864-5664

The Abbotsford Social Activity Association (ASAA) hosts dances every Friday from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at its hall, 33889 Essendene Ave. Cost is $6 for members and $7 for non-members.
