Thanks to a generous donation from Baker Hill Dental Clinic’s Dr. David Burwash, College of the Rockies Certified Dental Assistant students will be better prepared to enter the workforce upon the completion of their program.

The use of a panoramic x-ray machine was previously introduced through classroom theory but students did not have the opportunity to receive hands-on practice on a machine until they were in the work environment.

“The students in this program receive a great education; the one thing that I noticed lacking was experience on a panoramic x-ray machine.  We recently upgraded our technology to a digital machine at Baker Hill Dental Clinic so I was happy to connect with the College and donate the machine we were no longer using,” Dr. Burwash said.

Norma Sherret, Acting Department Head for Health, Kinesiology and Child Youth and Family Programs at College of the Rockies gratefully accepts the donation and acknowledges the support received. “Dr. Burwash supports our students and the CDA program every year by offering practice placements in his clinic and through his work in our on-site clinic at College of the Rockies. The donation of this x-ray equipment will offer students yet another important learning opportunity to further develop their technological knowledge and skills required in the workplace.

With installation provided by Patterson Dental, the new panoramic x-ray machine will be fully operational for the September intake of the Certified Dental Assistant program.
