Centennial Christian School students in Grades 4 to 7 may be a long way from the beach and the ocean but that didn't stop them from painting their own surfboards.
Both sides of the smaller versions of the real thing are being painted with designs of either fish or flowers.
“They just work at their skill level which I think is the coolest thing about this,” said art teacher Tim Block a couple of weeks ago.
“The kids who are really good at drawing, they can create more like an illustration and the ones who are less keen on that can still work on colour and simple shapes to make cool surfboards. It's very inclusive.”
The finished works will be on display at the school's evening of arts, which also will feature a band concert and dessert night June 5.
