Environment celebrated

The City of Vernon, in partnership with the Regional District of North Okanagan, will celebrate Environment Week between June 1 and 7.

A number of free events are scheduled:

June 2, Waste Reduction Day – Win a free composter by submitting your waste reduction activities during Environment Week. To enter, send an e-mail to recycle@rdno.ca.

June 3, Water Awareness Day – Learn about efficient backyard irrigation techniques at this free workshop in Xerindipity Garden in Polson Park from 7 to 8 p.m.

June 4, Clean Air Day – There will be free transit all day and a free continental breakfast from 6:30 to 9 a.m. at the transit exchange at Cenotaph Park.

June 5, Sustainable Consumption Day – Visit the education station at the Vernon Farmers Market at Kal Tire Place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. to learn about sustainable and responsible consumption through local food and agriculture.

June 7, International Trails Day - Learn more about our local trails and what they offer. Check www.rdno.ca for events you can attend.
