Nelson supporters of Clara's Big Ride — (pictured from left to right) Ross McNamara, Deb Kozak, Eva Hernandez, Todd Kettner, Kim Palfenier, Jim Patterson and Dianna Ducs  — show off the blue bike that Olympian Clara Hughes will sign as a commemorative item for the community during her stop in Nelson on May 24. The bike was formerly owned by Patterson who traded it for a new ride a few years back at Gerick Cycle, where owner McNamara tucked it away as part of his personal collection of vintage mountain bikes. After Hughes autographs the bike, it will go on display at a location in Nelson, yet to be determined. For more information on Hughes' cross-country bike trip, which aims to end stigma around mental illness, see bell.ca/clarasbigride.
