Donations sought to help homeless May 4

The Burnaby Task Force On Homelessness is calling for donations of clothing, blankets and food for Burnaby’s less fortunate at its Twice Feels Nice event.

Bring donations to the parking lot of the Vancity Royal Oak Community Branch, 6632 Royal Oak Ave. (at Grimmer Street) on Sunday, May 4, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The most urgent needs at this time include clean new or gently-used blankets, and clothing for adult men and women—coats, jeans, sweaters, shoes and boots. All donations will be distributed by the Progressive Housing Society Homeless Outreach Program.

The theme of the event is "Twice Feels Nice" as in, “It feels nice to share your used items with someone in need.”

“During the winter holiday season many citizens donate generously and demonstrate their concern for their Burnaby neighbours who are living in extreme poverty and homelessness," said Wanda Mulholland, Burnaby Task Force On Homelessness. "Unfortunately at this time the supply of donated clothing is very limited.”
