Donate household items and help save animals
The season for spring cleaning has arrived and if you have recycled items to donate, you can help create a better life for the Central Okanagan’s most vulnerable animals.
“There are several ways people can help,” says Suzanne Pugh, manager of the BC SPCA’s Kelowna Branch. “For many years the Kelowna SPCA’s Ladies Auxillary Group has raised urgently needed funds for abused and homeless animals in our care through a variety of sales and events.
Anyone with household items to donate for the auxilliary (excluding electronics) can drop them off at the Kelowna SPCA at 3785 Casorso Rd. during regular business hours or at First United Church, 721 Bernard Ave. on the first Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The BC SPCA’s new Thrift Store, at 3790 Casorso Rd. (across from the shelter) also welcomes donated items, including electronic goods. Please visit to donate (or make a purchase)!
Pugh says people can also help the animals by donating blankets, sheets and empty bottles (refundables only please) at the shelter and by donating change to the BC SPCA coin boxes located around Kelowna.
“We have so many wonderful animals in our care who desperately need help and we are grateful to our community for their generosity and compassion in helping us to save animal lives.”
