Heart forum at Star

The University of B.C.’s Centre for Heart, Lung and Vascular Health is attracting leading world experts to Vernon.

The inaugural Okanagan Cardiovascular and Respiratory Symposium is at Silver Star Mountain Resort until Saturday.

“The symposium will bring internationally renowned researchers and trainees from all around North America and Europe to the B.C. Interior to present research in the cardiovascular and respiratory sciences,” said Neil Eves, associate professor with UBC’s School of Health and Exercise Sciences.

“It will also give trainees a rare opportunity to discuss and receive feedback from leading international researchers in a more informal and supportive environment.”

Much of the research under discussion at the symposium will point the way to better understanding of how the heart, lungs and blood vessels function in an integrative function but also with special attention to preventive aspects of cardiovascular and respiratory health.
