CIVL Radio's singer-songwriter competition begins

A singer-songwriter competition starts on Monday, March 17, 2 p.m. at Aftermath at the University of the Fraser Valley.

For the past eight weeks, CIVL Radio 101.7 FM received submissions from talented singer-songwriters from across the Fraser Valley. Fifteen lucky artists were chosen, from a variety of musical backgrounds.

Judges were chosen through a similar application process, and three were selected to judge on regular battle nights. Three different judges will help decide wildcard picks, along with Facebook voting, in the playoff round on Monday, April 7.

The first battle features Todd Brown, a SOCAN registered singer/songwriter/guitarist based out of Abbotsford, Matt McAllister, playing the guitar, banjo and dulcimer, Tristan Smith, Kyle Schick, veteran of several bands from the Fraser Valley and Vancouver, and Ouroboros will make his debut performance on Aftermath’s stage with primitive folk and experimental jazz sounds.
