WEB EXTRA: Rhodos Coffee in Courtenay supporting anti-bullying campaign

Rhodos Coffee & Bistro is hosting an anti-bullying event to benefit Comox Valley Family Services.

CVCS does so much for our community such as programs helping over 1,000 families in the Comox Valley. Healthy Families (Farmers' Market Coupon Project, Toddler Time), Community Based Victim and Comox Valley Family Services Association are just some of what they offer.

The objective of Rhodos' campaign from Feb. 17 to 26 is to promote awareness of Anti-Bullying Week while raising funds that will be used by and kept in our community. Three methods of fundraising will take place.

• Through to the 26th during regular operating hours, Rhodos will donate 25 per cent of proceeds from breakfast menu sales as well as sales from the "mains" heading of the fresh sheet menu directly to Comox Valley Family Services.

In addition to simply raising cash for a worthy cause, Anti-Bullying Day awareness will be promoted, incorporating the colour pink as inspired by Pink Shirt Day on Feb. 26.

• A silent auction will be on display at Rhodos. The auction will feature local art, services and merchandise from local individuals and businesses.

The auction will close Feb. 26 at 5 p.m. All of the auction proceeds will go to CVFS. Sure Copy, Comox Academic Tutoring, Lemon Tree Spa, Hola Spanish for all, Island Traders and Shoppers Drug Mart are among auction item donors.

Feb. 22, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Rhodos will hosting a by-donation hot chocolate bar on the front patio. All proceeds go to CVFS.

Also on this day, $6 of the $6.30 price for Belgian waffles with fresh whipped cream and wild berry compote will go directly to CVFS.

Gillian Normandin from Comox Valley Family Services will come out Saturday along with several co-workers to help out with the hot chocolate bar.

Rhodos is at 106-364 Eighth St. in Courtenay. For details, visit
