German champion hits Silver Star slopes
Germany’s telemark champion chose Silver Star Mountain Resort as his training ground during final preparations for the Colorado World Cup race.
Tobias Mueller took advantage of training conditions at Silver Star before competing in the FIS Telemark World Cup from Monday to Friday.
“Silver Star has certainly lived up to its reputation of consistently providing firm snow and great visibility. It’s one of the best resorts I have ever trained at,” he said.
Mueller was the German telemark champion in 2012 and 2013. He is the five-time junior world champion and two-time silver world champion.
“It’s such a privilege to host Mueller on my mountain after spending last year living and training with him in Germany,” said Shane Landreville, the current Canadian men’s telemark champion and a friend of Mueller’s.
“He’s a prime example of a young, dedicated athlete that has achieved great success early in his career. We’re lucky to have him visit.”
Silver Star partnered with B.C. Telemark three years ago, to design and introduce a program that caters to telemark skiers of all levels and ages.
Silver Star and the Spring Loaded Telemark Festival will host the third annual National Telemark Championships April 4 to 6.
