The Comox Valley Multicultural & Immigrant Support Society hosts a Lunar New Year/B.C. Day celebration and potluck on Family Day Monday at the Elk’s Hall on Sixth Street in Courtenay.

The non-profit CVMISS has been promoting multiculturalism since 1991. Its mission statement is to help immigrants integrate into the social and cultural life of the Valley. It also aims to connect immigrants with others who have been isolated by language or cultural barriers.

The society thanks participants for donations. The board agreed to hand out $1,000 in scholarships to four students.

CVMISS welcomes fresh ideas to assist newcomers and immigrants. For more information, visit www.comoxvalleymulticultural.ca.

Monday's celebration runs from noon to 4 p.m. Please bring food to share with others.
