Contest rolls out sick ride

Competition is heating up as residents take to the wheel of Bannister Honda’s Sick Civic contest, hoping to drive away with the tricked-out wheels.

The Morning Star, Sun FM and Bannister Honda have teamed up to give away a 2003 Honda Civic Coupe, which has been tricked out with new tires, wheels, paint, graphics, exhaust and stereo. The Sick Civic is worth more than $25,000.

The contest is underway with 330 people registered in the contest (and there’s still time to take part). Each participant watches for questions published in The Morning Star over a five-week span. You must enter all 10 questions to qualify for the contest. Visit, under the contests tab (top right corner) to enter and view previous questions – if you missed them in the newspaper. Then visit to get the answers to the questions.

From the entries, five finalists will be chosen and the winner will be determined during Vernon Winter Carnival’s Family Day.

“They (Honda) have taken an older model Civic and turned it into a hot little car,” said Ian Jensen, Morning Star publisher. “It’s going to be displayed all over the community, from here to Silver Star and everywhere in between.”

The public can check out the Sick Civic at the following locations: Peter’s Tirecraft  Jan. 31 to Feb. 3, Autosound Plus Feb. 4 to 6, Bannister Honda Feb. 7, Vernon Winter Carnival parade Feb. 8 (returning to Bannister Honda after parade) and Bannister GM Feb. 12 to 14.
