Language learning

People like to play with language, create new words and worry about the decay of the language afterwards.

As part of the University of Fun Stuff series for older adults, join Jim McArthur as he presents Linguistics at Dogwood Pavilion on Wednesdays, 10 to 11:30 a.m. from Jan. 22 to Feb. 26.

This course will look at how and why language changes and how these changes affect us. It will include an overview of the development of English, from its Germanic origins to texting.

The fee for this six-week program is $31.50 and pre-registration is required. For more information and to pre-register, call 604-927-4386.

Dogwood Pavilion is a city of Coquitlam recreation centre for adults 50 and older and is located at 624 Poirier St., with the entrance off Winslow Avenue.
