On display at the Bayside
A wall of powerful images are currently hanging for sale at the Quality Resort Bayside and it’s all work of local talented photographers.
The Oceanside Photographers Club has put up the exhibit featuring 11 of its members. Visitors to the resort’s lobby will find everything from landscape, wildlife and flower photography to abstract pieces and photo art.
The local club currently has 107 members which is made up of novice photographers, professionals and those in between. The group gets together twice a month or more and has professional speakers come in, optional assignments and field trips.
“The whole idea of the club is focusing on learning and exchanging ideas and encouraging one another,” said Vivienne Bearder, the club’s vice president and its exhibition director.
The club members have dabbled with macro-photography, post production software and have even had instruction in iphonography.
Bearder said they are always looking for new members because it broadens the expertise, and it’s a very welcoming and wonderful atmosphere, she added.
The current exhibition at the Bayside is up until Jan. 31, but the club will be back at that location in March and April. There are also on-going photos being displayed by the club at Cafe Brie in Qualicum Beach, on a rotating basis, and they will have a show at the McMillan Arts Centre in Parksville in October.
