Volunteers needed for new winter festival

Festivals of any size require a great deal of people power to make them a success, and for the inaugural WinterBites Festival, with its varied activities and outdoor Fun Zone, a diverse range of volunteers are needed.

With a synthetic ice rink being brought in as a main feature of the Fun Zone in Simms Millennium Park, construction of the rink platform and overhead tenting structure will commence in early January.

Individuals handy with tools to assist the crew tasked with preparing the space for the rinks arrival are needed, including carpenters and electricians, or just people willing to lend an extra hand.

When the rink is open Jan. 17 to Feb. 2, and activities are running in the Zone, volunteers including rink hosts and greeters will be needed, as well as people to assist with public skate ticket sales and supporting the different activity booths that will surround the rink.

Other volunteer needs include park setup and takedown, first aid attendants, fire pit supervisors and more.

To register as a volunteer, e-mail kelly@discovercomoxvalley.com or for more information visit winterbitesfestival.com “Fun Zone.”
