RESCUE DOG BOOK

Janet Love Morrison, the author of the book Radar the Rescue Dog, will be in Abbotsford for a book signing on Saturday, Dec. 21 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Valhalla Pure Outfitters, 1707 Salton Rd. The children’s book is about a real dog, Radar, who was Whistler’s first civilian-validated avalanche rescue dog in 1978. Morrison said she wrote the book to create mountain safety awareness for kids and parents. Two-thirds of sales at the Abbotsford book signing are being donated to the Canadian Avalanche Rescue Dog Association.

ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS

The holiday season is the most dangerous time of the year for those trying to maintain sobriety and for anyone driving on the public highways. There are more alcohol-related traffic fatalities during the holiday season than any other time of the year. Alcoholics Anonymous wants to remind the public that they are there to help 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  Call 604-615-2911 or visit abbotsfordaa.org for help or to find a meeting.
