Union kicks in $20K for school program

A union has donated $20,000 toward New Westminster secondary’s special education program.

For the second consecutive year, the United Food and Commercial Workers local 247, which operates a training centre on Columbia Street, has made a significant contribution to enhance existing programing.

Department head Colleen Ray said the donations have allowed the department to purchase a Smart board, two projectors and two laptops. They’re looking to also buy a washer, dryer and dishwasher for the domestic life skills component of their independent living class.
