Centennial Christian hosts Christmas Concert with dessert
CENTENNIAL CHRISTIAN School kicked off the school Christmas concert season with its Christmas Concert and Dessert Auction Fundraiser Dec. 5.
Kindergarten to Grade 3 students dressed in brightly coloured vests sang two songs, including the 12 Days of Christmas, which included actions as the Grade 4/5 band students played for them to start the evening.
Directed by band teacher Kimberly Lindsay, who played ukelele along with several band students and several students playing xylophones too, the youngsters sang the words and held up signs with a picture of each of the 12 days' gifts as they sang.
The evening continued with Silent Night and much more, including the dessert auction to raise money for the high school band, which is going to the national competition for the first time next May.
The high school band students had raised some money last month with a movie night but after Typhoon Haiyan devastated the Philippines, they decided to send the money there to help out, said Lindsay.
