Vic High students promote change and inclusion at Christmas
The students involved in the Youth for Change and Inclusion group at Vic High have community on their mind most of the time.
Members were wearing scraps of white cloth tied around their wrists and legs Friday to show support for the national Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. In a couple of weeks they'll be colouring their wrists and encouraging fellow students to do the same, as part of The Lines Project, which remembers those who have been lost to suicide or have attempted it and supports people contemplating taking their own life.
On Friday, however, the Vic High group was gathered around a hamper full of new and used toys, donated by students for families in need at Christmas.
The YCI group holds events monthly to raise awareness of social justice issues and raise funds for community projects. Visit ycicanada.org for more information.
