The water has been drained from both pools and the hot tub at West Shore Parks and Recreation.

The pools will be closed until Dec. 27 and  adventure pool may remain closed longer with a possibility of the closure lasting until mid-January.

The adventure pool and hot tub are getting resurfaced for the first time since they were built in 2000.

"We hope to have every pool opened by the 27th," said Wade Davies, operations manager adding since the pool has never been fully resurfaced they are unsure if that will possible. Davies is hoping they will find a way to speed up the curing process.

Once the resurfacing has occurred the pool floor needs three weeks to cure. The adventure pool and the hot tub will need to be full of fresh water without chemicals during this process.

Davies is hoping they will find a way to speed up the curing process.

The main pool, sauna, steam room and hot tub will open Dec. 27.

"All other pools from across the region will be accepting passes from here during the closure," said Sandy Clarke, manager of recreation.
