Christopher Lakusta volunteered at the annual Scout Apple Day fundrasier at the Fort Langley Cranberry Festival on Saturday, Oct. 12, with the 1st Fort Langley Scout Group.
Chris, who turns 25 in November, has been involved with the Scouts Canada organization since September of 1993, when he joined the 1st Aldergrove Scout group, before transferring to the Fort Langley Scouts in 2013.
“You can say I’ve been Scouting for 20 years or most of my life,” says Chris, who recommends it for all youths.
Born in Langley, Chris grew up in Aldergrove, where he attended Parkside Elementary and then Aldergrove Secondary, from which he graduated in 2007. During those school years Chris played baseball, soccer, bowling and participated in track and field.
“I enjoy watching sports but most of all I enjoy watching the Aldergrove Kodiaks play at Aldergrove Arena,” says Chris, who has a Kodiaks season’s pass and also volunteers at the Kodiaks games, compiling team statistics and such.
Chris continues to work at Extra Foods as a grocery clerk, although he recently moved to Fort Langley.
“In my spare time I like going to movies, taking photographs and collecting sports cards. I really enjoy learning and reading about history, too,” adds Chris.
