PAMPERED IN PINK
Pinkies Nail Studio (33779 Essendene Ave.) holds the "Pampered in Pink" event on Friday, Oct. 25 to raise funds for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and includes mini manicures, pedicures and professional polish application on a first-come first-served basis. All services are by donation (minimum $5).
REPTILE GUY HAUNTED HOUSE
The Reptile Guy's Rescue and Education Centre ( #7 – 34366 Forrest Terrace) holds a haunted house from Oct. 24 to 31 with more than 150 live creatures lurking in the dark. Cost is $7 for adults and $5 for kids. Info: reptileguy.ca or 604-746-7228
MUSEUM HAUNTED HOUSE
MSA Museum Society holds its annual Halloween Haunted House on Saturday, Oct. 26 at Trethewey House, 2313 Ware St. A costume contest is held at 3:30 p.m., followed by child-friendly tours from 3 to 5 p.m. Spine-chilling tours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Tickets are at the door and are $4 each or $10 per family (two adults, up to three children). The Optimist Club will provide complimentary hot drinks and goodies.
Volunteer Abbotsford holds a Volunteer Fair on Saturday, Oct. 26 at Sevenoaks Shopping Centre (32900 South Fraser Way). JUBILEE HALL DANCE
The annual Halloween Dance at Jubilee Hall (7989 Bradner Rd.) takes place on Saturday, Oct. 26 with live music by the March Hare Show Band. FAMILY MOVIE MATINEE
Straiton Community Club holds a Family Movie Matinee on Saturday, Oct. 26 at Straiton Hall (4698 Sumas Mountain Rd.) with the film Hotel Transylvania. Doors open at 3 p.m. for the movie, but there will be a craft for kids 13 and under at 1:30 p.m. for a cost of 50 cents per child. PHOTO DAY IN MISSION
Dreamshots Studios (8375 Draper St. in Mission) holds its third annual photo day on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in support of the Mission Food Centre and Christmas Bureau. The public is invited to bring a cash or food donation and have their picture taken in either a haunted-themed or farm-themed set. The fully edited digital file is then emailed to them.
The Skills Connect for Immigrants Program holds a free information session on Tuesday, Oct. 29 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Abbotsford Community Services, 2420 Montrose Ave. The program helps participants with assistance finding work in their field, job-search techniques and more. The Abbotsford Learning Plus Society's classes next week are "Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce: 100 Years of Good Work" on Tuesday, Oct. 29 and "El Camino De Santiago: Life's Lessons from the Journey" on Thursday, Oct. 31.
