Community comes up big for Langley food bank
On Sept. 21, the BC Thanksgiving Food Drive (BCTFD) collected an estimated 402,000 pounds of food for 50 local food banks throughout the province.
In Langley, the BCTFD event included more than 260 volunteers providing over 775 hours of service to the community. They were able to visit several hundreds of homes and collected more than 14,400 pounds of non-perishable food for the Langley Food Bank.
Excited by the amount of aid given, Langley Food Bank executive director George Vandergugten remarked, “We appreciate receiving much-needed contributions from the community and the support of every individual involved.
“It’s essential to our work of helping the large number of people who rely on us to meet their basic needs.”
The local BCTFD event in Langley was generously sponsored by Meridian Meats and Leavitt Machinery.
