A Smash-ing donation
Mission Community Foundation contributed $1,000 to help bring MADD Canada's Smash program to local schools this fall and winter.
The new program demonstrates how easily and how quickly a night of partying can turn to tragedy when someone makes the decision to get behind the wheel while impaired.
MADD Canada's school assembly programs bring high-energy drug and alcohol impaired driving awareness and risk reduction messaging to the world of education.
Teens and young adults are over-represented in impaired driving crashes. Youth between 16 and 25 years old represented just 13.7 per cent of the population in 2009 but they accounted for nearly a third (31.1 per cent) of all alcohol-related road crash deaths, according to MADD Canada.
