Dark Knight Rises and Atanarjuat at PoCo library

Port Coquitlam’s Terry Fox Library has plenty of books but films will be the focus at two events in April:

• Teen Movie Afternoon: On Saturday, April 6 from 1 to 4 p.m., Fox will screen for young people The Dark Knight Rises (rated PG) during an afternoon of food and fun. Fox holds its Teen Movie  events on the first Saturday of each month.

• World Film Night: On Wednesday, April 10 from 6 to 8 p.m., Fox hosts its first event dedicated to cinema from around the globe. The first film in April is Atanarjuat: The Fast Runner, a 2001 Canadian film directed by Zacharian Kunk. (Synopsis: This was the first feature film ever to be written directed and acted entirely in Inuktitut. Set in the ancient past, the film retells an Inuit legend passed down through centuries of oral tradition.) The Friends of the Library will also sell refreshments at intermission.

For more information on either event, visit Terry Fox Library at 2470 Mary Hill Rd. in PoCo, phone 604-927-7999 or visit www.fvrl.ca.
