Colleen Flanagan/the news Bunnies are work Jennifer York, the new branch manager of the Maple Ridge SPCA, holds a bunny currently up for adoption, although she cautions against doing so for Easter. Rabbits can live up to 15 years and require a high level of care. They have to be brushed regularly to remove excess hair, their nails have to be trimmed, veterinarians should trim their teeth, they need unlimited access to Timothy hay, daily fresh fruits and dark leafy vegetables and lots of space to hop around. “Do your research before you adopt any animal,” says York, adding that if you have already have a bunny that you think is too much work, don’t dump it.
