Children's Champions sought

Nominations are sought for the annual Champions for Young Children award presented by the Tri-Cities Early Childhood Development Committee.

The deadline is March 25 to nominate an individual, group or business whose commitment to working with children under the age of six or raising awareness about children's issues goes above and beyond. Nominees who whose names have been submitted before but didn't win are also welcome.

The following categories are seeking nominations:

• Individual Champion – Direct Service Role

• Individual Champion – Leadership Role

• Individual or Group Champion – Working with Children Who Have Special Needs

• Group or Organization Champion

• Business Champion

Last year’s winners were Vicki Lepper, Denise Anderson, Debra Smith, Mary Anne Nelson, Friendly Forest Preschool and Kerrigan Gymnastics Academy.

Finalists will be recognized at a gala May 23 at Westwood Plateau Golf and Country Club.

Email susanfoster@fraserhealth with a nomination of 200 words or less describing what the nominee has done to improve the life or lives of children under six in the Tri-Cities. Forms can be downloaded electronically at www.tricitiesecd.ca.
