Charles Hays Secondary drama department putting on annual Dessert Theatre
Alison O'Toole's Charles Hays Secondary School drama students will be putting on this year's Dessert Theatre performance on the weekend, presenting two one-act plays the group performed at the Drama Festival in Terrace earlier this month.
Dessert Theatre will include Cucarachas, a play about four cockroaches pondering their existence as a researcher tries to understand the complex nature of the creatures, as well as Mr. Winkler's Birthday Party, a dark comedy that deals with a dysfunctional family as they visit their uncle in a nursing home on his 75th birthday. Students Aaron Grant and Hannah Komadina won awards for at the festival for their work in the plays.
The show will also include complimentary homemade desserts.
Dessert Theatre will take place at the Tom Rooney Playhouse on March 8 and 9, with doors opening at 7 p.m. and the performance starting at 7:30 p.m.
There will also be a silent dessert auction to raise money for the drama department.
