Yard sale supports kids in Kenya
Profits from a yard sale and Storage Wars-style auction on Saturday, March 2 will go toward a non-profit organization that supports children in need in Kenya.
Imani Orphan Care Foundation will hold the event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 3308 and 3305 Blossom Court in Abbotsford. The auction begins at 11:30 a.m.
The sale includes a toy “store,” a home decor section, a clothing/accessories boutique, and more. Hot dogs, chips and drinks – donated by Thrifty Foods – will be sold.
Highlights of the yard sale include the sale of special “hope” pendants with leather necklaces, and the presence of a food sales company called Virtual Fundraising.
The public will also be invited to bid on an abandoned storage unit donated by Iron Mask Mini Storage in Kamloops. The unit is being transported to the site, and will only be opened once the winning bid is determined.
Funds raised at the event will go toward the purchase of land to build a new Imani Orphan Care children’s home in the rural town of Ogembo in western Kenya.
The home will support 80 children currently in care, as well as many other children living on the streets in the surrounding area.
