A pair of BC Lions visited students at Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary in Cloverdale today (Feb. 26) to promote a message of healthy relationships and peaceful schools.

Wide receiver Shawn Gore and offensive lineman Dean Valli talked about the impact of violence against women and girls as part of the Lions’ Be More than a Bystander program.

Through the program, launched in 2011 by the Lions and EVA (Ending Violence Association) BC, the players provide students with the tools and ideas to be more than a bystander, and teach them how to communicate that violence and abuse is not acceptable.

The workshop at Lord Tweedsmuir was in the lead-up to Anti-Bullying Day on Feb. 27, held annually in Canada on the last Wednesday in February.
