Come out for a Winter Festival
On Saturday, February 23rd, the second annual “Winter Festival” is being held at the Glenn Sandburg Memorial Park which is adjacent to the Baynes Lake Hall. The event starts at 11 a.m. and includes many events for every member of the familly.
Such events include snow snake hunting, snow painting, face painting, ski planck races, snow golf, saucer chuckwagon race, snow shoeing, snow man building, and other family fun events.
Special prices will be given for families with the best crazy hats. A concession will be selling plenty of hot dogs, hamburgers and baked goodies plus plenty of steaming hot chocolate.
Children are asked to bring their sleds, snowshoes, hickey sticks and to dress warmly.
The event is sponsored by the Baynes Lake Parks and Recreation Society. The Society has been busy up-grading the Glenn Sandburg Memorial Park, with new picnic tables, benches, paint make-over and fire-pit. This ia a chance to enjoy the improvements.
The Winter Festival is just one of the family events held throughout the year by the society. For further information or to volunteer, call Norma Sommerville at 1-250-529- 7401.
