Local Legion legend receives Queen's Diamond Jubilee medal

Sam Brown received the Queen's Diamond Jubilee medal from Royal Canadian Legion Zone Commander Bill McGuire at a ceremony at the Legion on Feb. 19.

Brown is being honoured for his many years of service in the community. He worked with the Army Cadets, sang in the Trail Male Choir and was choir leader, is emcee for the Trail Choir Festival, and travels all over the Kootenays for the Masonic Lodge.

Brown is a former Castlegar Legion president and led the local Remembrance Day Parade for many years.
