Priestley best impromptu speaker in province
Mission Toastmaster Jo Priestley was named the best impromptu speaker in the province and was awarded a trophy for winning the District 21 (provincial level) Table Topics contest recently.
The trophy was presented by District 21 Lt. Governor Education and Training Darren Frew.
Priestley earned the provincial distinction after going through many levels and defeating nine contestants from more than 280 clubs along the way.
Table Topics are impromptu speeches, about a minute or two in length, on a surprise topic.
Priestley describes it as “just talking,” and says practising this kind of dialogue allows her to be more comfortable in her business dealings with clients.
