LUNG AND SOUL

Port Moody’s Prestonne Domareski will pay tribute to her dad next month by climbing one of Vancouver’s tallest skyscrapers for the BC Lung Association. The 12th annual Climb the Wall at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre Hotel on March 3 is a fundraiser for the research agency. It will be the first time up the 739 steps for the yoga instructor, who nearly lost her father, Adrian, to lung cancer. To donate, visit www.bc.lung.ca.

ROYAL AWARD

More Tri-City residents have won Diamond Jubilee medals to mark Queen Elizabeth’s 60 years at the helm. Last Friday, Coquitlam’s Robert Lashin, a lifetime member of the Vancouver Regional Construction Association, won the accolade for his contributions to the building industry. The Houle Electric president is pictured with fellow VRCA recipients Ron McFee and Don Vandervoort. Also, Bruce Harford, Tom Lewis, Bernie Pregler and Colleen Talbot received Jubilee awards last week from Coquitlam-Burke Mountain MLA Doug Horne.

SAFE CITY

Port Coquitlam has been recognized for the second year in a row for its employee health and safety programs. Mayor Greg Moore received the certification last month from Cathy Cook, executive director of the BC Municipal Safety Association.
