Seminar to focus on literacy and multiculturalism

The topic of multiculturalism and literacy, and how the two relate, will be the focus of a seminar this Friday at Richmond Cultural Centre.

Hosted by members of the Greater Vancouver Society of Students for Accelerated Integration, the seminar will be held from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18 and will feature talks by Richmond-Steveston MLA John Yap, who is Minister of Advanced Education, Innovation, and Technology and as Minister Responsible for Multiculturalism; Dr. M. Zeitlin, professor of English and Intercultural conflicts at the University of B.C.; and Alan Hill, writer and liaison to the Richmond Intercultural Advisory council.

The seminar—which will explore the possibility of creating a more multicultural society through education, writing and literature—will offer those in attendance a chance to ask questions, and also network with other organizations.
