Borrow a ‘human book’ and hear their story
Surrey Libraries and CBC Vancouver are hosting a Human Library on Saturday, Jan. 26 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the City Centre Library. More than 20 "human books" of various age, sex, and backgrounds will be available. You can participate in a one-on-one conversation with the "book" of your choice and get to know the real story, rather than their stereotypical character.
Human books available for borrowing will include: First Nation council woman; gay RCMP officer; senator; female firefighter; transsexual woman; military trauma surgeon; turban-wearing Sikh woman; amputee; alcoholic in recovery; little person/para-swimmer; Muslim scholar; and coroner,
Recently a homeless person, former exotic dancer, astrophysicist, former neo-Nazi, a female plumber, a blind person with guide dog and ex-gang member/ex-convict were at the library as human books.
